Avellaneda IG
The Valle Medio has a long wine history. The first vines around Choele Choel came with Coronel Belisle and Italian growers, and at the peak more than 15 wineries sat on the Isla de Choele Choel. La Esmeralda was founded in Beltrán in 1911 and the Videla Dorna family revived it decades later. The cooperative in Choele Choel held about eight million litres of storage in the 1970s. Then state support ended in the 1980s and growers moved to fruit.
Today the area is small, and I haven't found much current detail on its soils, altitude or styles. I'll add to this once bottles from the Valle Medio come through.
