Cordón El Cepillo IG

Cordón El Cepillo is one of the newer IGs in Mendoza. The INV recognised it on 5 December 2022 (Resolution 7/2022, published 26 December 2022) after a request from Bodegas Esmeralda. Grupo Peñaflor objected and the INV rejected the objection on technical grounds.

The resolution says the area is made up of terroirs with distinctive qualities suited to quality wine. It draws the boundary with 28 coordinate points and a map. The only altitude in the text is the 1,400 metre contour on the western edge, so the vineyards run up to that line. It doesn't describe soils or climate, and I haven't found a published study that does, so I'm not going to guess at them here.
