General Alvear IG
General Alvear had 2,998.5 hectares in 2025. The INV counted 4,407.84 hectares in 2016, 23.19% fewer than in 2000, spread over 1,309 vineyards. In 2015 it had 28 registered wineries and 15 of them made wine. Pink varieties predominate, and exports in 2015 went to China, the United States and Brazil.
The INV describes soils across the southern area as alluvial with a lot of limestone and often a stony subsoil. Meltwater from the Andes gives the vines even, steady irrigation.
I haven't found a General Alvear producer to point to, so I'll judge bottles as they come.
