IGGeneral Roca IG
General Roca is the centre of Río Negro wine. Humberto Canale arrived here in 1909 and planted the first vineyards in 1912, and by 1916 more than 110 hectares were in production. The family still runs the winery. A Patagonia tourism guide lists Chacra under General Roca as well. I'd check the exact vineyard when a bottle names one.
The Alto Valle's dry climate, steady wind and sandy alluvial soils apply here too. I'm looking for Pinot Noir with energy and Malbec that doesn't feel heavy.
