La Paz IG

La Paz is tiny. The INV counted 104.0 hectares in 2025, down from 169 in 2022 across 22 vineyards, and a regional guide gave 275 hectares from the 2018 figures. The department has lost more than half its vines since 2010. Rainfall is barely over 280 mm a year, and in 2022 the one registered winery made 1,260 hectolitres.

I haven't found a producer to point to yet, so for now La Paz is a name to watch for on a label. If a bottle turns up, I'll want to know who farmed the grapes and how they handled the heat.
