IGPampa El Cepillo IG
The INV recognised Pampa El Cepillo in 2019, after Bodegas Esmeralda applied. Press coverage at the time listed an altitude above 1,000 metres, irrigation with snowmelt, a big temperature swing between day and night and a lot of calcium carbonate in the soil. The Zuccardi terroir guide says the Tunuyán river's alluvial fan forms parts of Pampa El Cepillo.
An importer's sheet describes a cold climate, early ripening and a risk of early frost, on sandy loam over a rocky bottom. The one grape it names is Tempranillo, which Altocedro grows here and says has adapted well. I don't have more than that, so I'm not drafting a style for it yet.
