Pichimahuida IG
Pichi Mahuida has old vineyard roots. Colonia Juliá y Echarren was settled by Spanish growers who planted vines, with irrigation canals built between 1921 and 1924. Money problems and competition from Cuyo pushed producers toward pears and apples, and a growers' cooperative opened in 1930. The Nazar Anchorena wineries once stood at Coronel del Busto.
I haven't found a producer or a soil or climate description tied to the IG, so this entry stays short. Pichi Mahuida is a Mapudungun name that translates as small mountain range.
