Pocito IG

Pocito lost 1,179 hectares between 2015 and 2024, the second-largest fall in the province. Syrah is the leading varietal red here, ahead of Malbec.

Fabril Alto Verde and Las Marianas are listed as Pocito wineries. I haven't found a description of what their Pocito vineyards do for the wine.

Where: Pocito is a Tulum-valley department with 2,852 hectares of vines in 2024. It has its own departmental IG inside the Valle del Tulum IG.

Styles: Table and raisin grapes take 1,353 of the hectares, led by Flame Seedless at 537. Among wine grapes Cereza covers 796 hectares and Syrah follows at 160, ahead of Malbec (78) and Bonarda (66). A 2012 Diario de Cuyo report said Pocito and Sarmiento make Torrontés Riojano of high varietal character, and found Pocito suited to Moscatel de Alejandría.
