Russell IG
Russell is the smallest of the four districts in the University of Cuyo study of southern Maipú. It had 592 hectares of vines in 2011, next to Lunlunta at 619 and well behind Barrancas at 3,132. The IG was recognised in 2005.
The INV doesn't publish grape figures by district, so I can't tell you what's planted. Bodega Antigal's listing is the only description of the ground I found. It says alluvial deposits from Andean snowmelt have built up over millennia and that the loams drain freely. That comes from a producer, so I'd weigh it that way.
When a Russell wine turns up I'll look for structure and grip.
