San Javier IG
San Javier is a small, young area. The INV puts 11.8 hectares as planted in the 2000s, 18.6 in the 2010s and 2.7 since 2020, which leaves nothing older. Of the 33.1 hectares, 14.0 are Red Globe table grapes, so only about 19 hectares are wine grapes. Planting has grown by 22.4% since 2016.
I haven't found a winery tied to the department with a vineyard, altitude or soil description I can verify. When a Malbec or Syrah from San Javier turns up I'll want to taste it, though I expect very few bottles.
