Santa María IG

Santa María is the second largest wine department in Catamarca after Tinogasta. Altitude is the draw.

Finca La Bordalesa, started in 2012 by Anabela Albarracín, has two vineyards on both banks of the Santa María river. Puesto del Marqués is a large winery that buys grapes from here and from Chilecito, and it has vineyards at 1,900 metres on the slopes of the Cordón Calchaquí.

I'd look for Malbec with structure and a Torrontés with a clear aromatic lift.
