Tucumán is tiny. Its vines fell from 145 hectares in 2024 to 111 in 2025, and Malbec covers about 58 hectares. Local producers sell under the Vinos del Tucumán name and say the province has made wine for more than 130 years. They report more than 350 sunny days a year, drip irrigation with mountain water and a wide daily temperature range.

Luna de Cuarzo is a two hectare Tucumán winery making Malbec and Torrontés in an underground cellar, harvesting at the full moon in March with a later pick in May. Its vineyards slope down toward the Santa María river.
