Vistalba IG

Vistalba is a district of Luján de Cuyo with its own IG since 2022. The INV recognised it in Res. 12/2022, published on 26 August 2022, after Bodega Vistalba S.A. applied. The resolution says the area is made of terroirs with distinctive qualities for quality wine.

Wine Folly describes Vistalba Malbec with the word minerality. Vinous notes vines planted along the irrigation channels here in the mid-19th century, and Fabre Montmayou's Grand Vin 2019 uses Vistalba and Las Compuertas fruit.

Bodega Vistalba is the namesake producer. It has 45 hectares at the winery, overlooking the mountains, and 200 hectares in the Uco Valley. It's a joint venture between Carlos Pulenta and Alejandro Bulgheroni, and visitors taste in an underground cellar that shows the soil profile. Bodega Vistalba is also a member of the DOC council, and Vistalba is one of the Distrital district names.

When I open a Vistalba Malbec I'm looking for the mineral edge Wine Folly mentions.
