Corazón del Sol

Chapter III Malbec 2019

97

Sample provided by the producer

A brooding deep purple core rimmed in neon pink introduces the 2019 Corazon del Sol Chapter III Malbec from the Uco Valley, and the aromatics are the best part of a very good wine. Lush marionberry and black plum sit at the center, perfectly balanced, with fresh floral notes and sweet spice lifting above them. A smooch of peppercorn and raspberry essence runs through the middle and keeps the whole thing from settling into richness. The palate follows the nose almost exactly, adding boysenberry and a saline snap that hits right at the mid-palate. Tannins are fine-grained yet still clearly present, the body is full, and the acidity is pitched exactly where it needs to be. Editor’s choice.
