Las Heras IG
Las Heras had 1,203.3 hectares of vines in 2025, down from 1,489 in 2018, when there were 185 vineyards averaging 8 hectares. Only four wineries made wine in the department in 2018.
The INV describes the northern area's soils as mostly shallow and a little saline, which means growers have to drain and wash them to keep the salt down. It counts about 200 frost-free days a year, enough to ripen the grapes well.
The interesting part of Las Heras is up the hill in Canota, a 2020 IG at 950 to 1,200 metres. Outside Canota I couldn't tie a producer to the department, so I've left names out.
