Rivadavia IG
Rivadavia had 13,640.6 hectares in 2025, down from 14,318 in 2022 across 1,457 vineyards. Reds make up 51.1% of the vines used for wine, pink grapes 30.1% and whites 18.8%. The INV counted 81 registered wineries in 2022, and 54 of them made wine. It's also the biggest exporter of concentrated grape must in the East.
The soils across the East are wind-blown sandy loam and silty sand, and the zone sits at 600 to 700 metres according to the INV. Medrano, at the western edge, borders Maipú and Luján de Cuyo. A regional guide describes it as the part of the East known for old vines and gravel-based alluvial terraces beside old river courses.
Bodega Carelli is based here and has 140 hectares across San Martín and Junín. The Vignoni family comes from Rivadavia too, and Santiago Vignoni runs the Macollo label, which works with Bequignol and Sangiovese. In a Rivadavia Malbec I'm looking for fruit that stays fresh through a hot summer, and I'll check whether the label names Medrano or Reducción, the two small IGs inside.
