San Pablo IG

San Pablo is one of the highest zones in the Valle de Uco. INV Resolution 10/2019 was signed on 6 September 2019, and the applicant on paper was La Agrícola S.A. Press coverage says Salentein, Tapiz and Zuccardi led the project, working over about four years with the agronomy faculty of the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo and the INV. About 510 hectares of vines were planted at the time.

The IG sits on the right bank of the Las Tunas River's alluvial fan, and the soils are sandy loam with a lot of pebbles and some calcareous material. Zuccardi's Las Cuchillas vineyard, at 1,400 metres, is only 600 metres from the mountain front. It describes a cold, extreme climate with very low minimum temperatures, and it's the last vineyard Zuccardi harvests. Below the topsoil there's a layer of medium gravel covered in calcareous material at around 80 centimetres to a metre.

I'd look for freshness and tension here, and for fine tannin. A San Pablo label also tells me the grapes ripened late.
