IGTunuyán IG
Tunuyán had 10,445 hectares of vines in 2025. In 2021 the INV counted 602 vineyards averaging 16 hectares and 34 registered wineries, 32 of them making wine. Its wineries sold 71% of the wine commercialised from the whole valley that year, and about 65% of the valley's export volume.
Three IGs sit inside it: Vista Flores (2012), Los Chacayes (2017) and San Pablo (2019). They differ a lot. Vista Flores is the lowest, starting at about 1,000 metres on the left bank of the Tunuyán River. San Pablo is the highest, right under the Frontal Range. Los Chacayes reaches the Chilean border. Each has its own page here.
A bottle that says only Tunuyán tells me less than one with an IG on it, so I look for the specific place first and judge the Malbec against that.
