Famatina IG

Famatina is small but growing. The INV counted 466 hectares in 2024, up from 354 in 2015, and 85.8 hectares of that were planted between 2020 and 2024. It has 146 vineyards and one registered winery.

The main producer I can tie to the department is Bodega Chañarmuyo, with about 100 hectares at 1,700 metres. The village has under 300 people and sits among the Sierras del Paimán.

I'd look for Malbec and Cabernet Franc from the high plots, and I'd check the label to see whether it names Chañarmuyo.
